Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara is no longer a part of India’s Test team. However, after witnessing his performances in the ongoing County Championship in England, he is certainly making a case for himself to make a comeback in the Indian Test side.
On Friday, Pujara notched his third century while playing for Sussex in the ongoing County Championship Division 2 in England. Pujara began his County stint with his new club in a forgettable fashion as he got out cheaply against Derbyshire. However, the Indian batter notched a sensational double-century in the second innings to announce his arrival. His double-ton, however, couldn’t help the team secure a win as the match ended in a draw.
In the next game, Pujara slammed a ton against Worcestershire. However, despite that, Sussex suffered an innings defeat. In the ongoing match against Durham, Cheteshwar Pujara played an unbeaten knock of 128 off 198 deliveries and put his team in a commanding position in the match. His century helped his team notch a first-inning score of 362 runs in the first innings.
Not the result we wanted....a different outcome would have made the contribution sweeter. We'll come back stronger @SussexCCC ! Hope to continue contributing to the teams cause. pic.twitter.com/1PrkTKprHg

Durham, in reply, have bundled out for 223 runs. At the time of writing, Sussex currently lead by 139 runs at the end of two innings in the Test match. Despite Cheteshwar Pujara’s stellar performances, Sussex are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. They have played 3 matches and are yet to register a single win in the competition.
Nevertheless, Cheteshwar Pujara is currently the second-highest run-getter in the competition. In 2 matches, he has managed to score 456 runs at an average of 152, including 3 centuries. The fans are overjoyed after witnessing Pujara’s stellar knocks in the competition. The Indian batter received plaudits from different parts of the nation on Twitter. Here’s a look at some of the best reactions.
