The tragic death of Shane Warne shocked the world. As he was just 52, his unfortunate demise was untimely. It is to be noted that the legend was staying at the resort in Koh Samui in Thailand and was found dead in his room.
Tom Hall, who happens to be the chief executive of The Sporting News, was a close associate of Warne. As he was with the former leggie in Thailand, he revealed that there was “nothing unusual" surrounding the death of the legendary bowler. As a matter of fact, Hall said that Warne was enquiring about the ongoing Test match between Pakistan and Australia.
"The first question is, 'How can we watch Australia v Pakistan test here in Thailand; the game’s about to start?. Warney and cricket were never far apart. He came back with an armful of clothes looking like he had been at a yard sale," said Tom Hall, as quoted by Metro US.
He also revealed about the final meal of Shane Warne. “Shane chomping away: ‘Geez, you can’t beat Vegemite with some butter, always great wherever you are in the world”.
Thailand police had confirmed that Warne was having chest pain and had asthma before his death. However, Hall said that none of his friends were aware of the same. Yet, he stated that Warne had told one of his friends that he was experiencing "some chest pains and shortness of breath. He added that Warne's friends did everything they could to save his life but to no avail. "He knew he was a bit overweight and was getting back into training harder. His travel companions from Australia did everything they could, the local ambulance crews got there fast," said Hall.
In the meanwhile, he drew light on his relationship with Warne. Hall said that the legendary leggie presented him various gifts. "Shane had been working with me at The Sporting News for the past year or so and he presented me with his jumper from the 2005 Ashes Test, his 2008 ITL shirt and a one-day international shirt and cap to place in the TSN offices in Australia and the UK," he added.
