International T20 League is set to commence on Friday, the 13th of January with the inaugural match between Dubai Capitals and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Dubai International Cricket Stadium of Dubai will host this match between both teams. Six participating teams will lock horns in the 34 matches in the inaugural edition of the tournament.
In a good piece of news for Indian fans, the former Indian cricketers will also be a part of the International T20 League’s 2023 edition. Although the Indian Cricket Board has restricted both the active internationals and the domestic cricketers from taking part in the foreign T20 franchise league still the tournament will feature the retired Indian cricketers will be a part of this tournament concluding on the 12th of February with the final clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Here's a look at Indian players participating in the International League T20
Speaking of the Indian players taking part in the first edition of the tournament, the former right-hander Robin Uthappa, who hung his boots from both international cricket and Indian domestic cricket, will appear for the Dubai Capitals in the International League T20.
Meanwhile, former blistering Indian all-rounder Yousuf Pathan will also join his former teammate in the ILT20. The Karnataka batter was signed directly by the Dubai Capitals franchise.
Earlier in the month of December 2022, Uthappa also talked about his participation in the game during the post-retirement period.
"I consider myself a student of the game. So I will only be enriching my own knowledge and experience and information about the game when I go and play in different conditions in the world. Tomorrow if I want to be a coach, I should have some kind of stand when I am having a conversation with the lads. I believe all these experiences will add value to that,” said Uthappa to ESPNcricinfo.
Coming back to the International League T20, the six participating teams are namely; Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriors.
Notably, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders are the only team that has announced the squad among all six participating teams. Veteran Caribbean all-rounder Sunil Narine will lead Abu Dhabi in the tournament. Whereas on the other hand, the other five teams are yet to announce their squads.
