India and Bangladesh faced off against each other in the second ODI on December 7, Sunday and eventually, it was the latter who won the game by 5 runs. Mehidy Hasan and Mohammad Mahmadullah joined hands to put Bangladesh on the front foot as a century from Hasan helped the Bangla Tigers put on 271 runs on the board at the end of the first innings.
Eventually, India failed to bounce back in the second innings, although one has to agree that Men in Blue did try to fight back and make a comeback into the game. To add more, the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Rohit Sharma helped the Men in Blue make a stunning comeback, but in vain as it came in the losing cause. Iyer scored 82 runs, while Patel and Rohit scored 56 and 51 runs respectively.
However, the Indian skipper walked off the field in the first innings due to a thumb injury and eventually did not open the innings for team India during the chase. Post the conclusion of the match, team India head coach, Rahul Dravid, opened up on team India's injury concerns and revealed that the team will miss three players for the final ODI.
"Rohit Sharma will miss the 3rd ODI, he will fly back to Mumbai to consult an expert - Kuldeep Sen & Deepak Chahar are out of the series," Dravid was quoted as saying post the conclusion of the match. As things stand, India would hope to make a comeback and play for pride in the third ODI.

Some dislocation and some stitches: Rohit Sharma
Opening up on his injury, Rohit, the Indian captain, said after the loss that he was not too confident about his thumb, although the right-handed batter clarified that it was not a fracture. Further, Rohit said that the team would hope to sort things out and make a comeback in the final ODI, albeit the Men in Blue have already lost the series.
"Not taking anything away from Mehidy and Mahmudullah, was a great partnership but we also need to find ways of breaking such partnerships. In One-Day cricket, it's about partnerships and when you get those, you have to ensure that they are converted to match-winning partnerships. That's what they did. If you get those 70-run stands, you need to convert them into 110-120 run partnerships for the team to win games, as it isn't easy for the new batter," Rohit was quoted as saying post the conclusion of the match.
"Need to be braver in the middle. There are few injury concerns, we need to get to the bottom of this. Need to try and monitor them, because it's important to understand this. When they come to play for India, they need to be at more than 100 percent. We need to monitor their workload because we can't have guys coming in to play for the country half-fit," he added.
