Ravindra Jadeja has been an important part of the Indian team for the last couple of years. He has proved his worth in the last decade with his amazing all-round performances. The 33-year-old can contribute to the Indian team in all the departments effectively. But, his injury just ahead of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 has come as a major blow for the Indian camp.
It eventually resulted in his exclusion from the squad for the World Cup. India is still looking for a like-to-like replacement for Jadeja. Subsequently, senior Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has come up with an alternative to Jadeja in the marquee tournament.
In a conversation with Dainik Jagran, Chahal went on to say that Jadeja is a world-class cricketer and there is not any player who can replace him. Furthermore, he stated that team India can replace him in the World Cup with Axar Patel who has impressed everyone with his stellar performances.
“Jadeja is a world-class bowler and he has been batting extremely well too. Injuries are part of the game and no one can take his place. But the way Axar Patel has been bowling, we have found one alternative. He has shown he can do it,” said Chaha to Jagran.
India will play one more warm-up match ahead of the main round
Rohit Sharma’s men played their first-warm match of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. India locked horns with Western Australia XI yesterday the 10th of October.
