Former Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most loved cricketers of all time. Several cricketers have gone on to tell stories about how humble he truly is. India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya has gone on record to mention how good a person the Indian legend is, and how close the two of them are.
Pandya and Dhoni were teammates for a long time and are known to be good friends. The all-rounder has posted many pictures and selfies with the Indian legend on his social media handles as well. Pandya recently went on to narrate anrincident that depicted the modesty of the former Indian captain.
While speaking to ESPNcricinfo, the 28-year-old spoke about an incident during India's tour to New Zealand in 2019, where he had a delayed arrival due to a suspension after appearing in the show named "Koffee with Karan". During that time, there was no room available for him. However, the keeper-batter had other ideas. Pandya revealed that MS offered him his bed and slept on the floor.
"MS was someone who understood me from the start. How I function, what kind of a person I am, what are the things I don't like, everything. When I was picked for the New Zealand series (in January 2019, after the suspension was revoked), initially there were no hotel rooms available for me. But then I get a call, saying, 'You just come. MS has told us, 'I don't sleep on the bed in any case. He will sleep on my bed and I will sleep on the floor'," said Hardik Pandya as quoted by Cricinfo.
The hard-hitting all-rounder went on to participate in this series and performed reasonably well too. It is to be noted that the Baroda all-rounder made his international debut under Dhoni in 2016. In fact, the 40-year-old consistently backed him, even when he was going through a lean patch.
