Recently, while commentating in a T20 match in the Indian T20 League 2023, Sreesanth, Harbhajan Singh, and Virender Sehwag called the action together and discussed it in the commentary box. Harbhajan and Sreesanth were implicated in the "Slapgate," but the cricketers have since put the incident behind them and are once again buddies. In reality, Sreesanth and Harbhajan are working together once more as analysts for the ongoing ITL 2023. The issue was brought up by Sehwag, who was on the air with Harbhajan and Sreesanth during the ITL telecast.

"I want to share that before playing a Test or any other match, I always hugged Bhajji pa (Harbhajan Singh). My performance always used to be better," said Sreesanth. Sreesanth boasted about how fortunate Harbhajan was for him and mentioned how he often hugged Bhajji since it was lucky for him. Taking a dig at the two cricketers, Sehwag immediately asked: "When did this hug trend start! Probably after the incident in Mohali."

The infamous ‘Slapgate’ incident happened in ITL 2008

Although Sehwag did not specifically refer to the "Slapgate" episode, the Mohali incident he was discussing is the same. Harbhajan is accused of slapping Sreesanth following the ITL 2008 match between Punjab and Mumbai in Mohali. Sehwag's remarks were heard by Harbhajan, who abruptly ended the conversation by saying: "Bhul jao yaar" (Forget it man).

Harbhajan participated in 163 ITL games, taking 150 wickets with a 7.08 economy rate. Mumbai's maiden Champions League T20 final was also under his leadership. Bhajji represented India in 103 Tests, 236 ODIs, and 28 T20Is, taking 417, 269, and 25 wickets in the three formats, respectively.

Sreesanth, on the other hand, participated in just 44 games since his career was ended by accusations of spot-fixing and a subsequent, later-reduced life suspension from the sport. A judge ordered the restriction to be lifted in 2017. Sreesanth amassed 169 international wickets while representing India in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, and 10 T20Is.
