‘Har baat pe India ghusana hai’ - Fans slam Pakistan journalist for taking cheeky dig at India while praising Afghanistan for sealing ODI series victory over Bangladesh

Here is how fans have reacted as a well-known Pakistan journalist took an indirect dig at Team India while appreciating Afghanistan

On 8 July 2023, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh in the second game of the ongoing three-match ODI series in Bangladesh. Thus, they took an unassailable lead of 2-0 over the home team and sealed the series. It was a tremendous achievement for Afghanistan as Bangladesh have been a force to reckon with their home conditions in the ODI format. 

So, the whole cricketing fraternity came up with some congratulatory messages. Pakistan’s well-known journalist, Farid Khan also came up with a tweet but he took an indirect dig at Team India. The tweet went viral and seeing that, fans slammed the journalist brutally and shared their views on social media.

Pakistan’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka will kick off on 16 July 

He wrote: “Afghanistan have defeated Bangladesh by 142 runs to win the ODI series 2-0. Huge achievement considering India lost to Bangladesh in the ODI series in Bangladesh in December 2022. Congratulations #BANvAFG”. In 2022, India lost their three-match ODI series 2-1 in Bangladesh. So, he took a dig at the Men in Blue by mentioning that series loss in his tweet while praising the Afghans for sealing the ODI series with one more match to go. The last match of the series will take place on 11 July. 

Meanwhile, the Pakistan cricket team have already reached Sri Lanka as they will play a two-match Test series starting on 16 July. After being sidelined for a long time, their ace pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi is all set to make a comeback in the red-ball format. After the squad announcement, in a statement released by the PCB, Shaheen said on his return to Test cricket: "I am very excited to be returning to the Pakistan Test side after a year. I dearly missed Test cricket and it was tough for me to be away from this format. After missing our entire home season because of the injury I suffered in Sri Lanka, I am eager to make an impactful comeback in the same country and complete a century of wickets in Test cricket.”
