On 12 February 2023, India Women’s team locked horns with Pakistan Women’s team in the ongoing Women’s 20-20 World Cup in South Africa. It was the first encounter for the Men in Blue in this competition and that took place in Cape Town. Speaking of the match, Pakistan Women won the toss and opted to bat first.

For the Women in Green, Muneeba Ali and Javeria Khan came out to open the innings. Muneeba scored only 12 runs off 14 balls, including one boundary. The other opener managed only eight runs off six balls, including one four. But, skipper Bismah Marof scored 68 runs off 55 balls, including seven fours.

She batted at a strike rate of 123.63. Apart from them, Ayesha Naseem scored 43* runs off 25 balls, including two fours and two sixes. She batted at a strike rate of 172. Finally, Pakistan Women scored 149 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. For India Women, Radha Yadav took two wickets for 21 runs in four overs. Along with her, Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar took one wicket each. For India Women, Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma came out to open the innings for the chase. Yastika scored 17 runs off 20 balls, including two fours while Shafali scored 33 runs off 25 balls, including four boundaries.

Then, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur scored 16 runs off 12 balls, including two boundaries. But, it was Jemimah Rodrigues who played a match-winning knock of 53* runs off 38 balls, including eight boundaries. She batted at a strike rate of 139.47. Along with her, Richa Ghosh scored 31* runs off 20 balls, including five boundaries. Thus, India Women managed to win the game in 19 overs with seven wickets to go. For Pakistan, Nashra Sandhu took two wickets while Sadia Iqbal grabbed one wicket. After this win, India Women have now won 11 matches out of 14 against Pakistan in the shortest format of the game. Seeing such domination from Women in Blue, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media platforms.
