Sanju Samson, star Indian middle-order battter, is playing in the 16th Indian T20 League against the Hyderabad-based team. After guiding the squad the previous season and leading them to the final, where they lost to Gujarat, he is now captaining the Rajasthan-based squad for a second time.

Among the most successful players in the lucrative league, Samson struggled to maintain consistency when playing for the national team. He was never given a permanent spot in the lineup. Nonetheless, many cricket fans and ex-players still want him to be a part of Team India due to his exceptional talent and skills. Anil Kumble, former captain of India, has also expressed a desire for Samson to play for the country.

"When Anil Kumble saw him play, he said I've got to pick him" - Julian Wood on Bhanuka Rajapaksa

The former cricket player will serve as the franchise's head coach for the Punjab-based team. Bhanuka Rajapaksa, an aggressive middle-order batsman for Punjab, was a fantastic addition to Kumble's team in the 2022 super auction. Rajapaksa excelled last season and has continued to rule this season as he struck a scorching half-century against Kolkata in their opener. Punjab's fielding coach Nigel Aaron and batting consultant Julian Wood recently discussed Rajapaksa's fitness.

Meanwhile, Punjab's batting consultant Julian Wood and fielding coach Nigel Aaron recently talked about Rajapaksa's fitness. "When Anil Kumble saw him play, he said I've got to pick him. He was told don't pick him; he's not fit enough. Fair play to Kumble because he said, 'I don't care if he's fit; he can hit the ball for a six. I don't want him to run a 100m in 10 seconds; I want him to hit the ball for a six." Punjab batting consultant Julian Wood said on Cricbuzz.

"He asked me if it was possible to do it. I said technically; it is a strenuous workout because he had to bring the weight down by a certain amount in a month's time and at the same time retain fitness as well to complete the 2km test. It wasn't just about bringing the skinfold down but to having that strength to keep going." Nigel Aaron said on Cricbuzz.
