Team India are currently busy playing the ongoing home T20I series against New Zealand. However, Ishan Kishan has failed to score big in the first two matches. In the first match, he scored four runs off five balls, including one four. While, in the second match, Ishan scored 19 runs off 32 balls.
On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw did not get a chance until now despite being named in the squad. So, fans were not happy with team India persisting with Ishan Kishan. Now, as per the Indian Express reports, Prithvi Shaw is going to replace Ishan Kishan in the opening slot in the third T20I.
In the last five T20Is, Ishan Kishan has scored 63 runs so far
In the first match, Mitchell Bracewell bamboozled him with his off-spin as he knocked off his off-stump. Then, in the second match, Ishan was looking set for a solid knock while chasing only 100 runs. But, he got run out courtesy of Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner. In the last five T20Is, Ishan Kishan has scored 63 runs at an average of 12.60. He has scored 199 runs at an average of 15.30 and a strike rate of 106.41. So, after such reports, fans found the news interesting. However, some fans raised questions about who will be the wicketkeeper then if Ishan Kishan gets dropped. Some fans also suggested that Jitesh Sharma will make a debut if such a situation occurs.
In a recent interview with the Indian Cricket team TV, Prithvi Shaw said: My first call-up to the team was a proud moment for me. Getting the Test cap was a different feel. I always wanted to play Test matches for India. The first call-up was really special. There were ups and downs. But you learn something every day. I just worked hard on it. I tried to be patient and cool as possible, focusing on getting the process and routines right. These are the small things that make you close to perfect. People say if the process is good, you can score in the next, even if you fail in a couple of matches."
Here is how fans have reacted to the report of Prithvi Shaw to replace Ishan Kishan:
