After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Gujarat couldn't really get to a good start. Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed in the third over of the first innings. Matthew Wade was quick to follow him as he perished 10 balls later. The pitch wasn't batting-friendly as the batters found it hard to get going. The surface was dry.

However, Shubman Gill stood strong, and decided to play the role of an anchor. Despite the regular fall of wickets on the other end, the opener kept calm. He went on to score an unbeaten 63 from 49 balls. His knock consisted of seven boundaries. It is to be noted that Gujarat were able to hit just one six while batting first.

Rahul Tewatia however played a handy cameo as he hit 22 runs from 16 balls. He and Gill scored some crucial runs towards the end of the innings, which propelled their side to 144-4 in their stipulated 20 overs. As for the second innings, Lucknow never really got going as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Their openers had to prematurely return to the pavilion. Gujarat's bowlers were simply sensational as they didn't give any breathing space to the opposition. Unfortunately, none of Lucknow's batters could even score a 30. Rashid Khan was sensational as he picked four wickets in 3.5 overs, while giving just 24 runs.

It is safe to say that the Lucknow-based franchise were completely outplayed in all three departments of the game. R. Sai Kishore had a memorable debut as he picked two wickets, and gave just seven runs in his two overs. Thus, Lucknow could only score 82, and fell short of their target by 62 runs. This is their fourth loss in 12 games. As for the Gujarat-based franchise, this is their ninth win in 12 games. Several users took to Twitter to speak about the game.
