Australia's tour of Pakistan has finally come to an end. The tour began with the three-match Test series and ended with a one-off T20I match. This was a historic tour as Australia were playing in the Asian nation for the first time since 1998. Thus, the hype was well and truly justified.
As for the T20I game, Australia won the game by three wickets. The major positive for them was Aaron Finch's return to form. After underperforming for the last few months, Australia's limited-overs skipper was back amongst the runs as he scored 55 runs off 45 balls. Thanks to his knock, Aussies chased down a target of 163 runs with five balls to spare.
Although Finch gave a complete overview of the game during the post-match presentation, his cheeky response pertaining to Babar Azam was something which grabbed the headlines. He was thankful that their bowlers don't have to bowl to Pakistan's captain anymore. The batting maestro has been in superb form of late, and scored a lot of runs in the series against Australia.
"After the start they got, we know that Babar and Rizwan - they are fantastic at the top of the order. Anything under 180 we were happy and Cameron Green turned it around with those wickets. Glad that we don't have to bowl to Babar anymore
In the meanwhile, the opener also praised his bowlers. He said that they are preparing for the ODI and T20I World Cups. He also drew light on the resilience shown by his teammates despite the bubble fatigue. Furthermore, Finch was also happy to see the youngsters stepping up in crunch situations.
"The way our bowlers attacked after the start they got, such an inexperienced attack as well was fantastic. Nathan Ellis came back well after a rough start which showed his character. A really good sign of things to come for our white-ball team. Everything we do will be with one eye on the World Cup - both in the T20 format and the ODIs. Really proud of the entire group, we have been in bubbles and other things but the resilience shown over the couple of years has been fantastic. To see so many youngsters come into the Australian team and do well is exciting for the future. We were happy with that," he added.
