Pakistan and England competed against each other in the second Test and it was the latter who crushed the Babar Azam-led team yet again at Multan to win the series. However, the Pakistani brigade had to face a lot of criticism and hatred for losing the match, given that they were too close to bagging an epic win.
As things stand, the former Pakistani cricketer, Danish Kaneria, took to his YouTube channel to express displeasure over dropping Fawad Alam and said that the Pakistani think tank made a big mistake by dropping him for the crucial Test, given that it was the decider of the series.
Further, the former cricketer added that the selectors must bring Sarfaraz Ahmed into the Test setup and claimed that the wicketkeeper’s experience might come in handy during crunch situations. However, it is highly unlikely for the veteran to make a comeback, given that selectors are already banking on the youngsters for a better future.
When you do such things, you’ll get similar results: Danish Kaneria
Claiming that it was unwanted from the team management to not go for experienced players, Kaneria said that it is high time to bring in players who have experience under their belt. Further, the former cricketer said that the Pakistan team will keep facing similar results until the board takes firm decision.
“The players who were good, you don’t want to play them. You dropped Fawad Alam without any reason. You’ve kept Sarfaraz Ahmed away, you didn’t utilize him. (Jab is tarah zyadti karoge tab aapko ese hi results milenge) When you do such things, you’ll get similar results,” Kaneria was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.
“Give opportunities to Sarfaraz. It’s useless to make him sit in the dressing room. You better give that opportunity to the youngster who can learn something. What will Sarfaraz learn on the bench? He is an ex-captain and has been scoring runs in domestic cricket,” said the former cricketer further.
“You’re playing Rizwan in Test, ODI, and T20Is. If you remove him and play Sarfaraz and if the latter performs, Pakistan will be forced to play him once again. Is this the reason why you’re not playing Sarfaraz? Bring him for Karachi Test. You’ve already lost the series,” he added.
