India lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah made his international debut in early 2016. At that time, the team was looking for a bowler who could bowl the death overs. He made his debut in an ODI game against Australia which is remembered for Manish Pandey's maiden ODI hundred. A few months into his debut, he went on to play the 20-20 World Cup where the Men In Blue played the semi-final.
Meanwhile, in the same year, there were some players who made their debuts. They couldn't establish themselves like Bumrah did and faded away. Some of them can be considered unlucky as they had great performances in domestic cricket. Also, they didn't get enough chances due to some unexplained reasons. In this listicle, we will discuss four players who made their debut in 2016 but faded away.
Four players who made their debuts in 2016
-
Barindar Sran
The left-arm medium pacer made his debut for India before Bumrah. The former made his debut in the series. He has the ability to bring the ball back in to the right-hander. The Sirsa-born player played only six ODIs and two T20Is and faded away.
Some fans might remember him troubling Zimbabwe batters in an ODI game in Harare. However, for some unexplained reasons, he is still not being considered for the national recall. On could reason that he doesn't play enough domestic games to bring his case like others do.
2. Karun Nair
Not many fans might remember this but he made his ODI debut before playing his first Test. The right-hander made his ODI debut on the 2016 tour of Zimbabwe. In the two games he played, he has managed to score 46 runs with 39 being his best score.
In the same year, he made his mark in the second Test with a triple hundred in Chennai. However, after a few months, he lost his place in the team and has never played a game for the national team since.
3. Faiz Fazal
For someone who has a great domestic record in four-day and One-Day games, he has played only one ODI for India. He made his debut in the series as Karun Nair and scored an unbeaten 55 in a low-scoring one-sided affair.
Thanks to the competition with Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, he couldn't make any other appearance for India. The fans might also remember him playing for Rajasthan in 2010 Indian T20 League.
4. Rishi Dhawan
The all-rounder made his debut in the same series as Bumrah and Sran. Fans might remember his getting clobbered by the Aussie batters in Canberra. Also, with the bat, he threw his wicket away which gave a very bad impression of him as a player.
After that, he played one more ODI in which Jaspit made his debut. Apart from that, his sole T20I game was on the tour of Zimbabwe. Since then, he has been doing well in domestci cricket but isn't considered.
