Mumbai and Chennai are two of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian T20 league. No other team has been as consistent as them. Thus, both these sides have had some world-class players who have represented them.
However, there have been a few occasions where players who have played for Mumbai have gone on to represent Chennai. This year as well, some players who have played for Mumbai in the past were purchased by the defending champions in mega auction 2022. Today, we will be taking a look at four former Mumbai players who are now with Chennai for the Indian T20 League 2022.
1) Robin Uthappa:
Robin Uthappa has played for quite a few teams in his career. However, the Mumbai-based franchise was the first team he played for in the Indian T20 league. After which, he went on to play for teams like Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata and Rajasthan.
It was in 2021 when he played for Chennai and was a part of their title-winning campaign. After which, he was released by the franchise, only for them to buy him back during the mega auction. They acquired his services for INR 2 crore.
2) Ambati Rayudu:
Ambati Rayudu was synonymous with Mumbai for a really long time. As a matter of fact, he was one of their key players. It was in 2018 when he was released by the franchise, and Chennai managed to get him during the mega auction back then.
He played an influential role in ensuring that the MS Dhoni-led side win the title that year. He then represented the franchise until 2021. His performances for them promoted the Chennai management to buy him back during the mega auction for the 2022 edition.
3) Dwayne Bravo:
Dwayne Bravo has a special place in the heart of every Chennai fan. He has been representing the yellow army since 2011. However, before that, he was with their arch-rivals Mumbai.
Yet, he only gets remembered as a Chennai player due to his exploits for the franchise. He won the Purple Cap for them twice, i.e. in 2013 and 2015. He was bought back in 2022 as well.
4) Adam Milne:
Adam Milne is the latest addition to the list of ex-Mumbai players who will be playing for Chennai in the 2022 edition. The Kiwi pacer was with Mumbai in 2021. He last featured for them during their game against Bangalore in Dubai.
During the mega auction, Chennai acquired his services for INR 1.9 crore. Milne has played nine games in the toughest 20 league so far. It will be exciting to see if he gets a game for the yellow army.
