Indian team management and the players are continuously under the scanner of criticism from former cricketers and experts. It all started after the humiliating loss of the men in blue in the second semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup against England. The three lions completely outmuscled the Indian team by a margin of 10 wickets to enter the final of the tournament.

Following the Indian team’s ouster from the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup, various former cricketers have come up with suggestions for the Indian team to prepare for the next edition of the 20-20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, former Indian batter Robin Uthappa has suggested some changes in the batting order India needs to do before they go into the next edition of the 20-20 World Cup in 2024. Uthappa went on to back Rishabh Pant by referring to the latter’s performances in the  Indian T20 League.

"The next World Cup is in two years' time. So keeping the conditions there in mind, I feel Rishabh Pant should bat in the top 3. If you look at his IPL records, his best performances have come when he has opened or when he has batted at No. 3. So, you have to give him the opportunity to become a match-winner in that position," said Uthappa to Sportskeeda.

Later on, the 37-year-old also felt that his former teammate and currently the senior wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik might not be a part of the schemes for the 20-20 World Cup 2024.

"I don't think Dinesh Karthik might play again in the next world cup. So you can groom the likes of Sanju Samson, Rahul Tripathi, and Deepak Hooda in the finisher's role. Umran Malik is a bowler who should definitely play,” he added later.

Notably, Rishabh Pant will be in action for the Indian team during the upcoming three-match T20I series against New Zealand. He will be there in the role of vice-captain of the Indian team which is to be led by star all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
