The mega auction for the 15th edition of the Indian T20 league saw several players fetch big amounts. As a matter of fact, several players ended up making a fortune. Thus, many teams showed a lot of faith in some individuals.
However, every edition has seen plenty of players who have failed to repay the faith entrusted by their respective franchises. This time around, there might be some players who may fail to justify their worth. Today, we shall be taking a look at five players who might struggle to live up to their price tags in the Indian T20 league 2022
1) Liam Livingstone:
Liam Livingstone has been in superb form of late. Not only can he hit the big shots, he can bowl tight overs as well. Thus, after a massive bidding war for him, Punjab acquired his services for INR 11.5 crore.
However, there is a big question mark over his performance in the toughest T20 league in the world. While he has hardly played this league, he hasn't really been great in the limited opportunities. Besides, he was lukewarm during the 2021 edition, when he was playing for Rajasthan.
2) Nicholas Pooran:
Nicholas Pooran is one of the most talented players from the West Indies. When it comes to T20, he is tailor-made for this format. Thus, Hyderabad managed to buy him for INR 10.75 crore.
However, he had a torrid time during the previous edition and struggled to buy a run. He was able to score just 85 runs at an average of 7.72 and scored several ducks as well. Besides, he hasn't really been one of the most consistent players either.
3) Tim David:
Tim David has been in the form of his life. He was scoring runs for fun in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL). Thus, Mumbai showed their faith in him by buying him for a whopping amount of INR 8.25 crore.
It is to be noted that he has played just one match in this league as of now. Besides, facing world-class bowlers in the toughest 20 is a different ball game. Moreover, he will be expected to consistently slog, which is really difficult.
4) Rahul Tewatia:
Rahul Tewatia has developed a cult following for himself. He showcased a glimpse of his potential during the 2020 edition. Not only can he pick wickets in the middle overs, but can also hit the big shots.
Having said that, he was mediocre during the 2021 edition and was inconsistent. When it comes to his batting, he can be a little vulnerable while facing spin. As Gujarat acquired his services for INR 9 crore, it was a dicey call.
5) Krunal Pandya:
It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Krunal Pandya was one of Mumbai's weakest links in their last few editions. Neither was he convincing with the bat, nor with the ball. He couldn't even bowl his full quota of overs on a few occasions.
Yet, Lucknow decided to buy him for INR 8.25 crore. It came as a surprise to all the pundits and experts. Besides, his current form hasn't been great either.
