Five players who could have played more games
-
Tim David
The hard-hitting batter has played only three out of nine games for Mumbai in the ongoing season. He played the first two games against Delhi and Rajasthan before he was dropped and made a comeback in the return fixture against the Men in Pink.
Coming into the tournament, he had a great season in the Pakistan Super League, with 278 runs in 11 games averaging 39.71 and striking at 194.40. With this kind of form, he should have easily got more games.
2. Bhanuka Rajapaksa
The left-hander from Sri Lanka returned with scores of 43, 31, and 9 in the first three games for Punjab before being dropped for the fourth game. In the first two games, he got those with astonishing strike rates. He recently made his comeback in the return match against Chennai. Given his performances in the first three games, he shouldn't have been dropped in the first place.
3. Devon Conway
The Kiwi player got to play the opening game of the tournament for Chennai against Kolkata. After that game, he was dropped and played only recently against Hyderabad and Bangalore. In these games, he hit two entertaining half-centuries. Given the way he batted, it has made the fans and experts felt like he could have been given more opportunities this season.
4. Wriddhiman Saha
The wicketkeeper batter only recently played his first game of the season for Gujarat. In the first few games, Matthew Wade was the preferred choice for the team. However, ahead of the game against Kolkata on April 23, Wade was dropped due to his poor run of form with the bat.
Saha got the opportunity in place of the Aussie and has been doing well with the bat. In the return fixture against Hyderabad, the right-hander scored an explosive 68. Given attacking approach in the shortest format, perhaps, Wade could have gotten more opportunities for Gujarat.
5. Sean Abbott
The Australia all-rounder recently played his first game for Hyderabad against Delhi. This was the team's 10th game of the season. Abbott, who has a lot of experience playing for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL) has been one of the most evolved players over the years. With so much experience under his belt, he perhaps could have used a lot earlier in the season.
