A strange incident took place during the third T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan at the University Oval in Dunedin on Wednesday, January 17. When the visitors' wicket-keeper batter Azam Khan came out to bat from the Pakistan dugout, the DJ played WWE legend Big Show's theme song in an attempt to entertain the fans.

After Fakhar Zaman's wicket in the 11th over of Pakistan's chase, Azam walked out to join their former skipper Babar Azam in the middle. The song was playing in the background, but the 25-year-old didn't show any displeasure and focused on the task at hand. However, fans are divided on social media over the DJ's decision to play the popular entrance song of the American wrestler as it indirectly fat-shamed the cricketer.

Azam, 25, is one of those cricketers who often faces criticism for his unfit physique for an athlete. But criticising and mocking an individual through body shaming is different, which has prompted many fans to urge the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take up the issue with New Zealand Cricket.

Azam fails to showcase his batting prowess as New Zealand clinch the series

New Zealand beat Pakistan by 45 runs in the third T20I to clinch the five-match series. The hosts have already won the first two matches and looks like they will whitewash the series. Meanwhile, Azam Khan has failed to live up to expectations so far. The son of former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Moin Khan registered scores of 10 and 2 in the first two matches before being dismissed for 10 in the last match.

The Men in Green will now aim to end their 2024 tour of New Zealand on a positive note by bouncing back in the final two T20s. The two will meet for the fourth T20I at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Friday, January 19.
