On 19 July 2023, the fourth Test of the ongoing Ashes series kicked off in Manchester between England and Australia. The home team managed a thrilling win in the third Test and thus thee kept themselves alive in the series. So, this match was also important for them to make it 2-2 with a win with one more match to go.

Speaking of the match, England skipper, Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, their bowlers managed to perform well on day one as the Aussies finished the day with 299 runs on the board for eight wickets. But, they added only 18 runs in the morning session of day two as Australia got bundled out for 317 runs in 90.2 overs. 

Zak Crawley scored just 196 runs in the first three Tests of Ashes 2023 

For England, Chris Woakes continued his form from the last match as he took five wickets for 62 runs in 22.2 overs. Apart from him, Stuart Broad took two wickets while James Anderson, Mark Wood, and Moeen Ali grabbed one wicket each. For the Aussies, Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh smashed the fifties while some significant contributions came from Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Mitchell Starc. But, after that, when Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett came out to open for the home side, all eyes were on Crawley as he failed to score big so far in this ongoing series.

In the first six innings of three matches, he scored just 196 runs, including only one fifty. Meanwhile, Duckett got out for just one run off six balls. After that, Crawley continued to play his shots as he completed his fifty off 67 balls. He also stitched a partnership of 121 runs for the second wicket as Moeen Ali got out for 54 runs off 82 balls, including seven fours. After that, Crawley managed to hit a century off 93 balls.
