Fans witnessed a thrilling contest on Monday as Gujarat got to their first victory in the Indian T20 league 2022. They beat Lucknow by five wickets. Hardik Pandya's captaincy stint started on a good note as a clinical performance by his side ensured that they cross the line in the last over of the match.

It was Mohammed Shami who started things for them as he was simply sensational during the powerplay overs. In the first innings, he picked three wickets in his four overs. Lucknow recovered from his spell as Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni put on a superb partnership.
While both got to their respective half-centuries, the KL Rahul-led side scored 158-6 in the first innings. However, it wasn't enough as Gujarat chased the total with two balls to spare. Although the Lucknow-based franchise did give them a really tough fight, KL Rahul was criticized for his captaincy.

Thus, Rahul would be hoping to turn the tables for his side, and start winning games. Lucknow's next match is against the defending champions Chennai on March 31. It is to be noted that he scored an unbeaten 98 when he last faced Chennai during the previous edition.
