Sanju Samson’s international career went from bad to worse when Team India’s squad for the upcoming three-match home ODI series vs Australia was announced on 18 September 2023. The wicketkeeper batter failed to get a place in the team and seeing that, fans were not happy as they shared their views on social media.
Former cricketers like Robin Uthappa and Irfan Pathan shared tweets in support of him. Now, on 19 September, Sanju Samson came up with posts on social media platforms. On Facebook, he shared an emoji while on Instagram, he shared an image of him defending a ball under his eyes while playing for India, in the caption, he wrote: “It is what it is!! I choose to keep moving forward.” with an emoji of the Indian flag and a blue heart.

Surely he must be wondering what wrong he did to receive such a second class treatment.
As Indian Cricket team is slowly becoming Mumbai Indians, I think even I have to move on a cheer for other teams. #SanjuSamson… pic.twitter.com/1oEmWQj9qQ
Sanju Samson has an average of 55.71 in the 50-over format
Sanju Samson last played for India in the three-match T20I series in Ireland. In that series, he played two matches and scored just 41 runs. Before that, he played five T20Is in West Indies and scored 32 runs in three innings. In two ODIs against the Windies, he scored 60 runs, including a fifty. In the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper was the only travelling reserve.
But, now, selectors have ignored him for this upcoming series against the Aussies and he is not a part of the squad that is set to travel for the upcoming Asian Games. Speaking about his international career, Samson has played 13 ODIs so far with a staggering average of 55.71. But, in 24 T20Is, he has batted at a poor average of 19.68. Fans have shown their displeasure on social media as a player like Suryakumar Yadav has been given a place in the squad for both the upcoming series and World Cup despite having a poor record than Sanju in the 50-over format.
