Australian Cricket Team ended their year 2023 on a high after a comprehensive win over Pakistan on Friday. It has been a terrific year for the Australians, having won the World Test Championships and the ODI World Cup.

30-year-old Pat Cummins ended the year on a high picking two fifers during the MCG Test. For Shan Masood and his side, it will be a tough pill to digest after giving a tough fight to the home team.

Pakistani batters had put up a much better fight in the second inning of the game. Shan Masood in particular looked set for a big score after compiling his second fifty of the game. Agha Salman too played really to keep the home team and their fans on the tenterhooks.

Pakistan team was chasing 316 to win the second Test match in Melbourne. The Australian Cricket Team though showed no signs of giving a quarter as they managed to win the game by 79 runs. It was an exciting end to the year after Australia had dominated the cricketing landscape during 2023. 

The day began with Alex Carey being asked to carry his team to a decent total. The left-handed batter scored 53 as Australia was bundled out for 262 runs with an overall lead of 316 runs. Shaheen Afridi 4/76, Mir Hamza 4/32, and Aamer Jamal 2/74 were the wicket-takers for Pakistan.

In the chase, after losing Abdullah Shafique early for four runs, Imam Ul Haq and Shan Masood began playing their shots. The Pakistan skipper in particular was looking for boundaries right from the start. Cummins though provided the much-needed wickets when he dismissed both Pakistani batters.

Josh Hazlewood got the biggest wicket of the day when he castled Babar Azam for 41. The former Pakistani skipper was looking in good touch with the bat in the second dig. Saud Shakeel fell soon after for 24 caught by Carey off Starc. Mohammed Rizwan and Agha Salman then added 57 runs for the sixth wicket. 

just as the stand was looking dangerous Pat Cummins got the big wicket of Rizwan for 35 runs. Apart from Agha Salman who scored 50, none of the lower-order batters put up a fight. Australia won the game when Mir Hamza spooned a simple catch to Steve Smith to give Starc his fourth wicket of the inning.
