India's preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024 seems to be in full swing. The Indian team won the series against Australia by a huge margin of 4-1. Their next assignment would be to face South Africa in South Africa. Earlier this year, India defeated teams like Sri Lanka and New Zealand. India lost to the West Indies in the T20I series.

All eyes would be on India's tour of South Africa. Ahead of the series, there have been discussions regarding the inclusion of seniors back in the Indian T20I side. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul have not played a T20I in over a year. The focus will be on their spot in the Indian side in the T20 World Cup 2024.

The tournament will be played in the USA and the WI, where the pitches would not be outright flat. At the same time, there has been confusion over the captaincy of India. Hardik Pandya got injured in the ODI World Cup 2023, which seems to be a big one now. Reports claim he is to recover only by March 2024.

If India were to go with him as the captain for the T20 World Cup 2024, it would mean not enough game time for him both as a player and as a captain of the side. It has raised genuine questions among the fans of the Indian cricket team regarding the captaincy of India in the tournament. The secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, Jay Shah, was recently asked about clarity on the captaincy of the Indian team in the big tournament.

In a candid response, Jay did not give an answer that satisfied the reporters. "What is the need to have clarity right now? It (T20 World Cup) is starting in June, we have the IPL before that and the series against Afghanistan," said Shah. Suryakumar Yadav is currently leading the Indian team in the absence of Hardik.

Here's how the fans reacted to Jay Shah's statement-
