'Failures Failures Failures' - Twitter unimpressed as Mumbai lose their eighth consecutive game

Mumbai have now lost their eighth consecutive game of the Indian T20 league 2022. Whenever things seem to be at their worst for the five-time champions, they play another game this season and go on to lose that one as well. Lucknow, however, were clinical, to say the least as they won the 37th game of this edition. They beat the Mumbai-based franchise by 36 runs.

Once again, it was KL Rahul who led from the front and looked unstoppable. He got to his second hundred of the 2022 edition. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't be an overstatement to say that he single-handedly ensured that the Lucknow-based franchise got to a respectable total. Contrary to the traditional conditions at the Wankhede, the pitch wasn't really batting-friendly. The ball wasn't coming onto the bat.

Thus, Lucknow's opener Quinton de Kock was quick to perish. Manish Pandey was struggling in the middle as he only scored 22 runs, and consumed 22 balls for the same. The Rahul-led side scored just 32 runs in the first six overs.

Barring their skipper, none of the Lucknow batters looked comfortable. Nevertheless, Rahul was at his absolute best as he scored an unbeaten 103 from 62 balls. His knock consisted of 12 fours and four sixes. This enabled Lucknow to get to 168-6 in the first innings. In the absence of Avesh Khan, it was always going to be difficult to defend this total.

Besides, Mumbai didn't lose a single wicket in the first six overs. However, it was their captain Rohit Sharma who was hitting all the shots as Ishan Kishan was finding it hard out there in the middle. He was dismissed after scoring a 20-ball eight. Post which, Mumbai kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Sharma failed to convert his starts as he too was dismissed after scoring 39 from 31 balls. Tilak Varma then entertained the fans with some huge sixes, but even that couldn't seal the deal for the Mumbai-based franchise. At the end, they fell short of their target by 36 runs. Several people took to Twitter to speak about the game.
