It has been days since England lost the second Test of Ashes 2023 by 43 runs to visitors Australia at Lord’s. The day’s most controversial piece of play, the Jonny Bairstow dismissal created quite a buzz on social media and otherwise. However, the controversy is still fresh as new players, experts, and even politicians add to the drama every passing day. In the latest development, former Australian skipper Tim Paine added to the drama with an old clip of Jonny Bairstow where he can be seen waiting for a batter to lift his leg so he could dislodge the bails at the correct time.

Here's the shared video:

“Expected from them, to be honest. It's funny cricket. I have heard a few people talk about it last few weeks and everyone is guilty of it in cricket, everyone likes to use the spirit of cricket as a defense when something doesn't go your way," Paine said in his conversation with SEN Breakfast. "The simple answer is just to play within the laws of the game, isn't it, and let the umpires do their jobs. Pretty predictable. A lot of hypocrisy, that's for sure, coming out of the English," he further added.

Jonny Bairstow also defended his stumping in the video

Interestingly enough, in the old clip that Tim Paine shared Jonny Bairstow could be quoted defending his decision to stump the batter. He can be heard stating that it is a matter of luck, no gloveman can practice this, and it is within the rules of the game while defending his stumping decision. The video was targeted to expose the hypocrisy of the English wicketkeeper batter who has now resorted to the ‘Spirit of the Game’ shield following his controversial dismissal on the final day of the second Test of the Ashes 2023.
