The 35-year-old said that Indians are amongst the favorites to be the champions of the marquee tournament so Bangladesh will mainly focus to upset India in their next meetup at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.

These remarks from the skipper didn’t go down well with the Bangladeshi fans and they took no time in bashing their national team’s skipper on social media. Fans took to Twitter for going harsh after listening to the low ambitious remarks from Shakib.

Here's all that Shakib stated during the pre-match presser ahead of their clash against India:

"Well, as I said earlier in one of the Bangla questions, India is one of the favorites. They came here to win the World Cup. We are not favorites, and we didn’t come here to win the World Cup. You can understand the situation. If we win against India, it will be called an upset and we will try to play our best cricket and try to make an upset," said Shakib Al Hasan during the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

"Well, he has been playing well. He is probably their No. 1 batter if you talk about the records in the last year. They have got quite a few world-class players, we have to look out for them. We will talk about all these areas when we discuss our team meeting. There are top-class T20I players who we have to overcome if we are to win," he added later.

Later on, the senior all-rounder also discussed the Australian conditions and the difference in the weather in various Australian cities.

"Hobart was very cold. Then we went to Sydney, weather-wise. Brisbane was nice too. Now we are getting cold weather. We have to adjust and we are mentally ready for the game. I think it will be a full house and I think it will be an exciting game. We will enjoy the game," he concluded.
