In what it seems to be a major blow, regular Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the second and last of the three-match Test series against Bangladesh. It means that Rohit’s deputy and stand-in skipper KL Rahul will lead the team in the last fixture of the Test series. The 35-year-old sustained an injury in his left thumb during the second of the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh.
Notably, the Indian skipper has suffered a lot due to injuries throughout the calendar year of 2022. Due to these injuries, he has been switched on and off in and out of the team. Meanwhile, the veteran Mumbai batter has also registered an unwanted record to his name as he hasn’t scored even a single century during the entire year of 2022.
Interestingly, it is the first time for Rohit since 2013 when he failed to touch the three-figure mark in either of the formats of the game. Subsequently, the fans trolled him and also went a bit harsh to say that the Indian skipper’s international career is finished.
Here’s how fans reacted to the end of Rohit’s century streak of 9 years:

Speaking of Rohit Sharma’s illustrious career for the Indian team at the highest level of the game, he has played 234 ODIs, 45 Tests, and 148 T20Is since his international debut 15 years back in the year 2007.
In these appearances, Rohit has smashed eight Test centuries, 29 ODI centuries, and 4 T20I centuries with his willow. Apart from this, the Indian veteran stands alone with a unique record of three ODI double centuries to his name alongside more than 16,000 international runs.
Notably, Rohit was also on the edge of a knife when India faced an embarrassing defeat of 10 wickets against England in the second semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. He is expected to be available with the Indian team for the upcoming series of white-ball assignments against New Zealand and Sri Lanka next year in the month of January.
