The stage was set in Guwahati on 5 April 2023 as Rajasthan Royals locked horns with Punjab Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Both teams came up after winning their respective season openers. So, an enthralling battle was waiting for fans between these sides. However, they did not disappoint the fans as it was a high-scoring thriller. Punjab batted first and scored 197 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. But, in reply, Rajasthan scored 192 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.

Hence, they lost the match by just five runs. But, Devdutt Paddikal got brutally criticised for scoring 21 runs off 26 balls in that high-scoring affair. Regarding that, the Lucknow Super Giants also came up with a cheeky tweet to take a dig at Rajasthan for using Paddikal in the middle order instead of as an opener. However, it seemed that they deleted the tweet after some time. But, images of that tweet have now gone viral and fans have shared their views on the same on the social media platform.

Speaking of that tweet, it read: “Paddikal bhai ki jabse opening position gayi hai tabse he unka downfall start hogya hai #RRvsPBKS”. It meant that Devdutt Paddikal’s downfall started after his opening position has gone. Seeing that, some fans agreed with the same while some fans trolled the Lucknow franchise for such a tweet. Nathan Ellis won the Player of the Match award for his four-wicket haul for 30 runs in four overs. After the match, Rajasthan skipper, Sanju Samson claimed that Punjab Kings came out to the game with a positive mindset.

He said: "They came out with a really positive mindset, they had a really good powerplay and the momentum just carried on with that. Our bowlers tried to vary their lengths and speed on this small ground. It's a high-scoring venue but we did really well to pull the game a bit back after the start they got. Our bowlers did a reasonably good job."
