In what comes as big news, Bangalore have finally announced their new captain. Amidst all the hype and uncertainly around the new leader of the franchise, it has been confirmed that Faf du Plessis will be leading the Bangalore-based franchise in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 league. This will be the first time the Proteas batter will lead a side in the biggest T20 league in the world.

It is to be noted that Virat Kohli has been leading Bangalore for a really long time. However, during the previous season, he had announced that the 14th edition would be the last time he will lead the 2016-finalists. Thus, the fans of the franchise were waiting for a really long time for the announcement of their team's captain.
As far as Faf is concerned, he is a veteran and has several achievements to his name. Besides, he has been playing the toughest 20 league for quite a while now. He was with Chennai and played a huge role in two title-winning campaigns for them. As far as his leadership credentials go, the stylish batter has led South Africa for many years and has a fairly decent record as well.
His experience is certainly going to come in handy for Bangalore and all the fans of the Karnataka-based franchise would hope that he leads them to their maiden title. The Proteas legend was purchased by the Bangalore-based franchise for INR 7 crore.
Bangalore's Twitter account also posted a video where Virat Kohli is welcoming Faf. Even AB de Villiers expressed his joy over the same. Despite not having age on his side, Faf has been in superb form of late.
He was the second-highest run-scoring during the 2021 edition. Besides, he was awesome in 2020 as well. As Bangalore have a superb squad this time around, it will be exciting to see how the veteran uses his players, and how he goes about his stint as Bangalore's captain.
