KL Rahul is one of the trusted openers and also one of those who have got many chances to make a statement. However, of late, fans have been feeling that the opportunities are getting a bit over the board as the batter is failing over and over again.

For the unversed, Rahul hit the headlines yet again after getting out for just 9 runs in the clash against Netherlands played at Sydney ground on October 27, Thursday in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022.

Notably, the star batter scored only 4 runs in the opening clash against Pakistan on Sunday and many are requesting to get the opener removed from the playing XI. Although the batter scored a valuable fifty in the warm-up game against Australia prior to the Super 12 stage matches, Rahul has not been able to bring his vintage best of late in important matches.

Will Rahul make a comeback for India?

However, the contributions of the talented batter cannot be ruled out and it remains to see if the right-handed opener will make a comeback against the South Africa clash to be played on coming Sunday. More than his poor form, it is the strike rate that has been hurting his fans the most leading to criticisms from all ends.

Averaging only around 29 in the shortest format of the game this year, Rahul has managed to reach the fifty-run landmark only 4 times out of the 11 innings that he has played so far. All is not lost for the opener as the Indian team management is firm in backing the player despite his continued failures.

If the talented batter manages to make a statement with the bat in the upcoming matches, Rahul can well come into the groove and make a name for himself yet again. In other news, India clinched an emphatic win against Netherlands by 56 runs and made it to the top of the Group 2 table.
