Virat Kohli is currently busy playing in the ongoing three-match ODI series at home against Australia, However, he failed to score big in the series opener despite being the highest run-scorer for team India in the recently concluded Test series against the Aussies. However, he will be seen in action in the Indian T20 League 2023 for the Bangalore franchise. Now, the West Indies batter Chris Gayle came up with a huge statement that did not go well with Kohli fans.

Recently, in an interaction on Jio Cinemas, Gayle did not Virat Kohli’s name when he was asked about a current player whom he enjoys watching. In reply, he picked Rohit Sharma and it left all Kohli fans surprised. Every fan, especially Bangalore fans know the bromance Kohli and Gayle have shared while playing together for the franchise in the Indian T20 League.

Hence, it was quite surprising to see the Caribbean batter taking the name of the current team India skipper instead of the former skipper. During that interaction, Gayle also claimed that Rohit Sharma’s side, winning the 2015 edition of the Indian T20 League, impressed him a lot as they made it to the playoffs at the very last minute.

He said: “They needed to qualify within 12 overs at a particular run-rate. They did it and went on to win the championship that year, basically from nothing to champions. Most teams, not only within the Indian T20 League but overall can always reflect on that situation and use it like an example to show that you’re never out of it. Never give up in life. When you get a chance, it might be slim, but still go for it, because you just never know.”  

Speaking about their bonding, Chris Gayle played seven seasons together with Virat Kohli for the Bangalore franchise. The pair of Gayle and Kohli was the first pair to register 10 century stands in T20s and it all came for the Bangalore franchise.
