The first day of the mega auction saw a lot of players bagging lucrative contracts. However, as there were several experienced cricketers available, teams didn't miss the opportunity to buy them. Ravichandran Ashwin happens to be one of the veterans who went under the hammer on Saturday.
At the end, it was Rajasthan who managed to purchase him. They spent INR 5 crore in order to acquire his services. Thus, Ashwin recently expressed his happiness on being picked by the Samson-led side.
The bowling all-rounder also mentioned the fact that the same side had attempted to get him during the 2018 auction as well. Ashwin then stated that he has a good rapport with several players from that dugout and he is looking forward to bowling alongside Yuzvendra Chahal and sharing the same dressing room with Jos Buttler.
"I got picked up by Rajasthan Royals. I am extremely delighted that they have picked me, they tried hard to pick me in the last auction in 2018 but it has come through finally. I have got a great rapport with all of them in that dugout, I have a wonderful rapport with Sanju Samson as well," said Ravichandran Ashwin in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of Rajasthan.
"I am looking forward to giving my complete best for the franchise and hopefully doing special things for them. Looking forward to bowling alongside Yuzvendra Chahal, looking forward to sharing a dressing room with Jos Buttler, how good is it gonna be," he added
It is to be noted that both, Ashwin and Jos Buttler were involved in a controversy, that saw the offie "Mankad" him. This led to several contrasting opinions among experts. However, the Rajasthan-based franchise posted another video that saw Buttler welcome Ashwin to the team, while taking a hilarious dig at him.
"Hey Ash, Jos here. Don't worry I am inside the crease, cannot wait to see you in pink for the Royals. Look forward to sharing the dressing room with you," said Jos Buttler.
