Ever since Rahul Dravid has taken over as India's head coach, a lot of players have led the team across formats. From Rohit Sharma to Jasprit Bumrah, a total of five players have led the team. There are many reasons for this. Some players were rested while a certain Virat Kohli left the Test captaincy. Kohli also is on the list of players who led India under Dravid's regime.
Rohit started leading the team in white-ball formats while Virat was leading the Test side when Dravid took charge. At the start of this year, the five-time Indian T20 League-winning skipper missed out on the South Africa tour due to injury. This is the reason why KL Rahul had to lead the team in one Test, as well as during the three-matches ODI series against the same team.
Last month, Rishabh Pant led the Men In Blue against South Africa and Hardik Pandya in the recently concluded series against Ireland. In the ongoing Test against England, Jasprit Bumrah is leading the side as the Mumbai player is down due to COVID -19. Meanwhile, the T20I players will play the first of their two warm-up games against Derbyshire on July 1. For both games, Dinesh Karthik has been appointed the skipper of the team.
Dinesh Karthik will be India's captain in the two T20 warm up matches (tonight and on Sunday).

The game will be played in Derby after the first day of the ongoing Test match between England and India at 11 PM IST. The games will be played for the preparations for the three-match T20I series against the Three Lions. The series will start on July 7, two days after the end of the fifth Test.
Several big names will sit this out with a lot of second-string players, who played against the Proteas and Ireland, will play in the first T20I. With almost all of the first-choice players already playing in the Test match, the squad for the first T20I will participate in the warm-up games. Derbyshire will be led by Pakistan batter Shan Masood.
