The scene was set at Narendra Modi Stadium on May 15, 2023, when Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) squared off in the present Indian Premier League (IPL). To guarantee their spot in the playoffs, GT needed to earn their ninth victory of the year. At the same time, SRH sought a victory to maintain their tournament status.

However, a certain incident caught the eyes of the spectators. While running between the wickets, Gujarat Titan's Sai Sudarshan collided with SRH's pacer T. Natarajan. Luckily, the throw missed the stumps, or a run-out would have been the most expected outcome. Fans have shared hilarious photos of the two players colliding, while others have reacted to them plentifully.

Gujarat Titans became the first team to qualify for IPL 2023 playoffs

While everything was going on, the Orange Army, who had Wriddhiman Saha as a former player, had a great start to the game. However, players like Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill continued to penalise the bowlers, with the former briefly taking second place. They only needed 13.4 overs to put together 147. Six fours and a six were part of Sudarshan's 47-point haul from 36 balls. Gill, on the other side, reached his first IPL century.

However, no other player touched the double-figure mark aside from them, which is why they were instead limited to 189/9. B. Kumar conceded 30 runs while scalping five wickets. With the ball, though, GT demonstrated to SRH that 189 runs are more than enough for them. In the beginning, they took seven wickets for 59 runs. At this point, 68 runs were scored for the eighth wicket by Heinrich Klassen and Kumar. The 2016 champions ultimately scored 154/9 but fell short by 34 runs.

The Aiden Markram-led team is out of the playoff race after this defeat. The Titans, on the other hand, are currently the first team to reach the playoffs of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League.
