The IPL 2023 final scheduled for May 28, Sunday, was washed out by heavy rains in Ahmedabad. As such the match will now be shifted to the reserve day on Monday. While Chennai Super Kings are chasing a record-equalling fifth title, Gujarat Titans are on the hunt for their second consecutive title in the second year of participation. The team from the western state has already scripted history by winning the IPL title in their debut season and now qualifying for consecutive finals.

As such, the Narendra Modi Stadium, famed to be the cricket stadium with the highest seating capacity was filled up with fans anticipating a great final. However, rain played spoilsport and the play shifted to the reserve day. Now, photos of travelling fans have surfaced online. The fans can be seen sleeping on the railway platforms after the IPL final was washed off on Sunday.

Here’s what happens if rain washes off CSK vs GT, IPL 2023 final

"Let me end the confusion. There is a reserve day tomorrow. Unlike last year, a reserve day is not guaranteed only when a match starts, and the result isn’t determined on the day. This year, if the final cannot be completed or doesn’t take place at all on Sunday (May 28), we will have the contest on Monday," a source told as rain interrupted play on Sunday.

The regulation applies to the Reserve Day as well, taking into account the Super Over. The outfield and pitch must be ready for a Super Over by 1.20 AM IST at the latest. The squad that placed better on the points chart after 70 league games will take home the trophy if the Reserve Day is also postponed due to inclement weather. Gujarat Titans, who finished first in the league phase, will win this match against CSK, who finished second.

Notably, rain also caused the second qualifier of the year to be postponed on Friday by sometime, but fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium were able to watch the entire match as Hardik Pandya's team defeated the five-time champion Mumbai Indians by a score of 62 runs to advance to their second straight final.
