Bangladesh Cricket was sent into uncertainty after Iqbal's announcement
With Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023 just around the corner, it came as a huge surprise for a captain to take retirement from the game. Litton Das was hurriedly made the captain after Iqbal's retirement but something seemed off about the whole thing.
Many Bangladesh Cricket officials refused to accept Iqbal's retirement and suggested him to think about his decision again. Given the severity of the decision, Bangladesh PM had to jump in and save the day. Now that the news has been confirmed, it looks like PM did save the day.
Earlier Bangladesh all-rounder and Iqbal's long-time colleague in the team, Shakib Al Hasan, had posted an emotional post on Facebook in which he lamented Iqbal's retirement decision. He had however come to terms with the decision and wished for Iqbal to live a happy retired life.
