On 14 July 2023, India A began their ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup campaign in Colombo as they took on UAE A. Both teams were looking for a winning start and speaking of the match, India A skipper, Yash Dhull won the toss and opted to bowl. For UAE A, Aryansh Sharma and Jonathan Figy came out to bat.

But, Figy got out for a golden duck, courtesy of Harshit Rana. After that, India’s bowlers were all over them as they lost their fourth wicket for 52 runs. Aryansh scored 38 runs off 42 balls, including seven fours. Apart from him, only Ashwanth Valthapa scored 46 runs and Mohammed Faraazuddin scored 35 runs. Thus, in 50 overs, they scored only 175 runs for nine wickets.

Yash Dhull scored 108* runs off 84 balls against UAE A

For India A, Harshit Rana had a great outing as he picked up four wickets for 41 runs in nine overs. Both Nitish Kumar Reddy and Manav Suthar took two wickets each. Apart from them, Abhishek Sharma grabbed one wicket. In reply, India A were in a spot of bother after losing both Sai Sudharsan and Abhishek Sharma cheaply. Then, skipper, Dhull came out and put up an unbeaten partnership of 138 runs for the third wicket.

Nikin Jose scored 41* runs off 53 balls, including five fours. While Dhull smashed 108* runs off 84 balls, including 20 fours and one six. It was his maiden List-A century. Thus, they chased down the target with ease in just 26.3 overs with eight wickets in hand. For UAE A, both Ali Naseer and Muhammad Jawadullah took one wicket each. After this win, India A are at the top of the table with a net run rate of +3.255. Now, they will be in action again on 17 July in Colombo against Nepal. Dhull also won the Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock. However, Nepal suffered a four-wicket loss in their opening game against Pakistan A on 14 July.
