‘Dekhna hi tha toh ABD ka video dekhle’ - Fans react as Jitesh Sharma says he watches Suryakumar Yadav’s videos to improve his 360° game

Jitesh Sharma got named in the Team India squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the People's Republic of China from 23 September to 8 October. He had an impressive IPL 2023 for Punjab Kings (PBKS). Fans were also expecting to see him in action in the upcoming T20I series in West Indies.

But, he did not get a call-up to the squad. In IPL 2023, Jitesh scored 309 runs in 14 matches, at a strike rate of 156.06 while batting down the order. He smashed 21 sixes also and his big-hitting abilities left all fans crazy. Now, in a chat with The Indian Express, Jitesh shared that he is studying Suryalumar Yadav’s batting by watching his videos on YouTube to improve his 360° game.

He said: "I am just trying to observe Suryakumar Yadav. Main unke jitna skilfull nahi hoon (I am not as skillful as him). But I am watching his videos on how he manipulates the field, how he plays those risk-free shots. I am just trying to learn from his batting. Everyone has a different skill set. I am just trying to explore my game and make it 360". Suryakumar Yadav always gets compared with the former Protea and RCB batter, AB De Villiers for his various range of shots all around the park.

However, Jitesh Sharma got a place in Team India as a replacement for Sanju Samson earlier this year during the home T20I series against Sri Lanka. So, as per quoted by News18, he also opened up about the conversation he had with the head coach of Team India, Rahul Dravid. He said: “Yes, I had discussions with Rahul sir, when I was selected during the home season a few months back. He said ‘Jaise batting kar rahein ho, waise hi karte raho. Aur yehi dekh rahe hain hum future ke liye. Humein aise players hi chahiye is position ke liye.’ (The way you are batting, continue in the same vein. We are specifically looking for players like these for certain batting positions (Nos 5 and 6)".
