‘Dekha PR ka kamaal’ - Fans react as Sanju Samson is reportedly set to return to ODI & T20I squad for West Indies tour

Team India will be in action from July as a full-fledged tour is on the cards for Rohit Sharma and his men. They will play Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. However, fans are wondering which players will make the cut to the squad for the tour. After the recent, WTC final loss at the Oval against Australia, some changes are reportedly expected in the Test squad.

But, now reports have come out that Sanju Samson can make a comeback in both the ODI and T20I series squad. Samson last played for Team India against Sri Lanka in a T20I game on 3 January 2023. During that match, he injured his left knee while attempting to stop a ball near the boundary ropes.

However, after that, he managed to make a comeback to his fitness as Samson played in the IPL 2023. But, it was a disappointing season for him both as a skipper and batter for Rajasthan Royals (RR). His team finished in the fifth spot with 14 points in 14 games. As an individual batter, Samson scored only 362 runs in 14 games, at an average of 30.17 and a strike rate of 153.39. He smashed three fifties in the tournament. So, now, it will be a huge opportunity for him if he manages to get a spot in both the squads.

Speaking about his career, Samson has played 11 ODIs so far. In 10 innings, he has scored 330 runs, at an average of 66 and a strike rate of 104.76, including two fifties only. While, in 16 T20I innings, he has scored 301 runs, at an average of 20.06 and a strike rate of 133.77, including one fifty only. Keeping an eye on the upcoming ODI World Cup in India later this year, Samson’s inclusion can play a major boost for Rohit Sharma in the upcoming matches as Rishabh Pant is most likely to take more time to get fit fully.
