India lost the second T20I against South Africa in the ongoing five-match series. There were a number of poor individual performances in the second game that brought out a bad result for the hosts. Poor batting, below-par captaincy and giving free runs while bowling were some of the areas that copulated to this result.
The Men in Blue however also drew some positives from the game. One such positive was Bhuvneshwar Kumar's bowling. With a bowling figure of 4-13-4, the 32-year-old was in a class of his own. Looking at his performances, Dale Steyn has come out and shared another instance of Bhuvneshwar's determination. The ex-South African pacer has revealed that Bhuvneshwar Kumar wanted to win the Purple Cap in this season's Indian T20 League.
Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, the legendary Proteas pacer said, "I asked Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the Indian T20 League that he has any goals, he told me 'I want to win the Purple Cap'." The South African right-arm pacer showered massive praise on the Indian seamer saying, "It just shows he's determined and he wants to prove that he's still pretty much a force to reckon with."
The Meerut-born bowler had a sub-par Indian T20 League where he took just 12 wickets in 14 games. His form had a big effect on the Hyderabad franchise which is why they did not do well. The right-arm pacer however has shown instances of his true quality and hence, he was selected for the India- South Africa T20I series.
Having taken 63 wickets in 61 matches with an impressive economy of 6.99, the bowler and his fans would be hoping for a resurgence in form. The Indian team are currently struggling, having lost both of their two games and would be looking to turn the tides around in the third game in Visakhapatnam on June 14. In order to win the series, the Rishabh Pant-led side will have to win the remaining three matches of this series.
