Former legendary South African pacer Dale Steyn is a bit more active in expressing his views on the Indian cricket team ahead of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Just a few days back, he spoke highly of the senior Indian pacer Mohammed Shami to replace the injured speedster Jasprit Bumrah in the 20-20 World Cup commencing on the 16th of October later this week.

Recently, he has come up with an open-ended warning to the star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant that he might be replaced with another youngster in the Indian lineup for the marquee event in Australia. Dale Steyn has also shared his experiences of the Indian T20 league with the player he has spoken for.

He is none other than the young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who was on the praising notes of the former Proteas legend. Steyn also recalled the time when he played a few matches with Ishan in the Indian T20 League.

“I actually played with him a bit way back in the IPL. He seemed like a baby. We nicknamed him Justin Bieber because he was like this absolute rockstar. I've watched him go and get better. For a short and small man, he packs an incredible punch,” said Steyn to Star Sports.

Later on, he also mentioned the prospective concerns for Rishabh Pant as Ishan has completely capitalized on the opportunities given to him.

“These sixes off Nortje aren't small. They're pure timing and muscle. And just the ability to recognize when to take on the bowler... he is a great player and guy in that Indian team... Rishabh Pant should be worried that someone is coming for his spot," he added later.

Talking Ishan Kishan, he has showcased his brilliant batting skills in the recently-concluded ODI series against South Africa. In this three-match series, the hosts outplayed the Proteas to win the series by a margin of 2-1.
