Star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj is spitting fire in the ongoing third and last of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The 28-year-old star speedster has completely outmuscled the visitorsβ batting lineup by scalping four wickets by conceding just 20 runs in the seven overs he bowled so far.
Siraj has conceded only 20 runs with an outstanding economy rate of only 2.85 runs per over. The fans have also gone ecstatic following this amazing display of bowling by the Hyderabad speedster. Notably, Siraj also showed his heroics in the fielding apart from the bowling, he ran Chamika Karunaratne out in the 12th over of the Sri Lankan innings.
Speaking of the match so far, Dasun Shanaka & co. have lost seven wickets only on the score of 50 runs in 15 overs. Now, they still require 341 runs to win with only three wickets to spare. Apart from the four-wicket haul by Siraj, senior pacer Mohammed Shami and wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav have also scalped one wicket each.
Earlier, riding on the brilliant centuries by former skipper Virat Kohli and young opener Virat Kohli, the hosts posted a massive total of 390 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Kohli completed his ODI careerβs 46th ODI century and also broke the record for the highest number of ODI centuries on Indian soil. Earlier, former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar had 20 centuries to his name on home soil. Now, the 34-year-old has surpassed the master blaster and has scored 21 centuries in India.
Kohli smashed 166 runs off 110 with 13 boundaries and eight sixes to his name. Other than him, Shubman Gill also played a knock of 116 runs off 97 balls with 14 boundaries on his credit.
