Afghanistan and Bangladesh locked horns with each other in the third match of the Asia Cup 2022. Afghanistan was coming off a win against Sri Lanka in the inaugural match of the 15th edition of the tournament. Bangladesh was playing its first match during its campaign for the Asia Cup 2022.
Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Batting first, Bangladesh posted a total of 127 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target, Afghanistan scored 131 runs in 18.3 overs and won the match by seven wickets.

Discussing the match ahead, then Bangladesh had a very poor start as they lost their five wickets only on the score of 53 runs in 10.3 overs. Lower-order batter Mosaddek Hossain ended up as the highest run-scorer in the inning for Bangladesh. He played a fine knock of 48 runs off 31 runs with four boundaries and a six to his name.
Other than him, senior batter Mahmudullah also scored 25 runs off 27 balls with a boundary. Eventually Bangladesh could manage to post a low total of 127 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the 20 overs. Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman and star spinner Rashid Khan scalped three wickets each for the Afghanistan.
Later on, while chasing the target of 128 runs, Afghanistan couldn’t have a good start as they lost their first wicket in the form of Rahmanullah Gurbaz only on the score of 15 runs. But the number-three batter Ibrahim Zadran stayed there in the middle and scored 42 runs off 41 balls with four boundaries.
Other than Ibrahim, senior lad Najibullah Zadran smashed an excellent knock of 43 runs off just 17 balls with a boundary and amazing six sixes on his credit. On the backs of these batting heroics, Afghanistan easily chased down the target in 18.3 overs.
Now, the Afghanistan has also become the first team to qualify for the super four round of the 15th edition of the tournament.
