In what comes as shocking news, South African all-rounder Chris Morris has announced his retirement from all forms of the game. It is to be noted that he was a relatively late bloomer, and made his first-class debut for North West in 2009, at the age of 22. Morris last played for the Titans in their game against Boland in the four-day franchise series match at the Boland Park in Paarl.

Despite not being a regular feature in the Proteas squad, he made an impact whenever given an opportunity. However, he has been a regular face in T20 leagues, and has been a part of several popular franchises in the world. As a matter of fact, he has gone for big bucks in several of the IPL auctions. During the IPL 2021 auction, Rajasthan Royals had purchased him for a whopping 16.25 crore rupees as well.

The Proteas all-rounder took to social media to announce his retirement. In a post, he thanked all those who played a part in his journey. He also stated that he will be taking up a coaching role at Titans.

"Today I announce my retirement from all forms of cricket! Thanks to all who have played a part in my journey whether it be big or small…it’s been a fun ride! Delighted to be taking up a coaching role at @titanscricket #lifebeginsnow," Morris wrote on his Instagram page.

The 34-year-old has represented South Africa in 69 games across formats. While he last played his last international game in 2019, he has been a regular in the Indian T20 league. Morris has played for four IPL teams, namely Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

When it comes to the IPL, he was last seen representing the Royals in 2021, where he had a superb first half in India, but wasn't at his lethal best during the UAE leg in September. Nevertheless, with 196 FC wickets, 126 List-A wickets and 290 T20 cricket, the explosive all-rounder bids adieu to all forms of cricket.
