India is celebrating its 73rd Republic Day today. Several celebrities took to their social media account and wished India on this celebrated day. Among the many wishers was West Indies stalwart, Chris Gayle. Gayle enjoys a massive fan following in India, mainly because of his stint in the Indian T20 League. The veteran also admires the love and respect he gets in India.
Gayle took to Twitter and revealed that he got a personal message from India PM Narendra Modi on Republic Day. He also extended his greetings to the Indians on the auspicious occasion.
“I would like to congratulate India on their 73rd Republic Day. I woke up to a personal message from Prime Minister Modi @narendramodi reaffirming my close personal ties with him and to the people of India. Congratulations from the Universe Boss and nuff love," read the tweet.

Gayle is currently participating in the Bangladesh Premier League. He is playing for Fortune Barishal. However, he has not been in the best of form. Meanwhile, Gayle didn't register for the Indian T20 League mega auction for 2022, which could well mean that the 'Universe Boss' might have played his last game in the T20 extravaganza.
Gayle played an instrumental role in making the Indian T20 League a massive hit. While he played for several franchises, his best came while playing for Bangalore, where he amassed over 3400 runs. He was let go of Bangalore in 2018 before Punjab roped him.
Gayle also doesn't play for West Indies anymore. While many were expecting that he will get a farewell match against Ireland, he was sidelined by the selectors, signaling a possible end of his international career.
