The discussion between the greats of any sport is always something that overwhelms the fans of that particular game. Similarly, a few of the cricketing greats including the likes of Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Robin Uthappa, Anil Kumble, Parthiv Patel, and Scott Styris were there in a discussion on the history of the Indian T20 League.
Meanwhile, there was also a very hot point of the discussion on the greatest-ever bowler in the history of the Indian T20 League. The veterans came up with different names whereas it was Gayle who went on to put the entire discussion the rest by naming the hardest bowler he ever faced in the cash-rich Indian T20 tournament.
Robin Uthappa and Parthiv came with the names of Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Amit Mishra, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. But when the host of the discussion Scott Styris asked Gayle about his pick and the latter excluded these names while naming the greatest Indian bowler in the history of the Indian T20 League.
. I am not gonna pick an off-spinner like Bhajji or Ashwin - Chris Gayle
“Bumrah absolutely. I am not gonna pick an off-spinner like Bhajji or Ashwin, but definitely Bumrah. You just can’t seem to get him. Difficult to play his slow ball, his variations are very, very unique. I pick Bumrah,” said Gayle while replying to Scott’s question.
Although Gayle’s point can be considered valid s he could score only 37 runs off 48 balls in 10 head-to-head appearances against the Indian pacer.
Talking about Bumrah, he is currently out of action from international cricket due to the back injury that he sustained before the commencement of the Asia Cup 2022 last year. Subsequently, he was also ruled out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 followed by some important bilateral assignments against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Later on, Bumrah had also been excluded from the squad of Team India for the first two Tests of the four-match series against Australia.
