Chennai haven't really been at their best during the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. They have only won four out of their 11 games, and are currently placed ninth on the points table. Having said that, the defending champions still stand a chance to make it to the playoffs if they win their remaining games, and hope for some of the results to go their way.
It is to be noted that MS Dhoni had handed over Chennai's captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the start of this edition. Unfortunately, the all-rounder wasn't able to live up to the hype, and couldn't really do a good job as the leader of the team. Besides, there was a massive dip in his own form as well.
This resulted in him handing over the captaincy back to Dhoni. However, to everyone's surprise, Chennai have unfollowed Ravindra Jadeja on Instagram. This has put a huge question mark over his future with the franchise. Several fans took to Twitter to post screenshots of the official Instagram handle of Chennai unfollowing the southpaw.

Fans witnessed a similar incident during the previous edition, and it involved Hyderabad and David Warner. Back then, the franchise had unfollowed the Aussie opener under mysterious circumstances, only for them to part ways later on. Warner is currently representing Delhi.
In the meanwhile, Dhoni had drawn light on how captaincy affected Jadeja's performance. After the four-time champions beat Hyderabad under his leadership, the keeper-batter spoke about how one can't be spoon-fed everything. Dhoni also stated that Jadeja knew that he was going lead Chennai a year ago.
“I think Jadeja knew last season he’d be captaining this year. For the first two games, I oversaw his work and let him be later. I insisted he’d take his own decisions and responsibility for them. You cannot spoon-feed everything to them. Once you become captain, it means a lot of demands come in and can affect the player’s performance and occupy their mind which I think was the case with him," said MS Dhoni after Chennai's victory over Hyderabad.
As far as Jadeja is concerned, then he is struggling in the ongoing edition. Neither has he been able to contribute with the bat, nor has he been effective with the ball. Besides, he couldn't feature in Chennai's recent game against Delhi as he wasn't fit. It will be interesting to see if he plays the next game for Chennai. The yellow army will be facing Mumbai on May 12.
