The third T20I between India and Ireland was called off due to rain without a ball being bowled here at The Village in Dublin on Wednesday. With this win, the Indian team, under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah, sealed the series 2-0. The Men in Blue were clinical throughout the course of the series and looked like a dominant force in the two T20Is that were played before.
It is also to be considered that it was not the full-fledged India team which were playing against Ireland in this series, there were many youngsters on the side who will also be seen in the upcoming Asian Games representing the nation. The highlight of the series was the return of the star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was making a comeback into the national side after 11 months.
The premier Indian pacer had a good series on his return as he was the Player of the Match in the first match as well as was also adjourned as the Player of the series award. The first match of the series was quite a test as the Indian team just crossed the line as they were just two runs ahead of the DLS par score at the time when the rain came in and halted the proceedings. The bowlers did a great job there as skipper Bumrah along with Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi all claimed 2 wickets each in the match.
India registered a win in the 2nd T20I
In the second T20I, where there was a full-fledged match of 20 over each, India lost the toss and were asked to bat. The Indian team had an iffy start but somehow managed to get a respective total of 185/5 in their allocated 20 overs courtesy of some strong finishing blows from Rinku Singh (38) and Shivam Dube (22). Earlier on in the innings vice-captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (58) along with Sanju Samson (40) did put together a brilliant partnership to steady the Indian innings.
In reply, Ireland's team never looked in control of the chase as the trio of Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna and Bishnoi claimed two wickets each and made sure that Ireland didn’t chase down the total. All in all, it was a great series for the players coming in with injuries as well as the youngsters who will be representing the nation at the Asian Games.
Let us now look at how Twitter has reacted to this series win from the Indian team:
